Thanksgiving Dinner Yams/Sweet Potatoes

(You can get these ready to bake 3-4 days ahead if you want to save time.)
3-4 yams
Brown Sugar
1/4 cup margarine/butter
Package of small marshmallows
Cook enough yams or sweet potatoes to fill a baking pan when they are cut up. For a 9x13 pan it takes about 3-4 yams depending on their size.
Wash and peel the yams. Cook them by boiling them whole until mostly tender. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut the yams into about ½ inch slices and place a layer in the pan. Sprinkle them with brown sugar and little bits of butter. Repeat so that there are 2-3 layers ending with sugar and butter. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees about 30-40 minutes. Sprinkle with Miniature marshmallows and bake for another 5 minutes or until golden brown. (Be careful not to burn the marshmallows.)
